It was a very busy night for DC firefighters as they responded to three working fires in the city. Shortly after 5 p.m. firefighters in the First Battalion were dispatched to 2225 Lawrence St NE for a report of smoke coming from a vacant building.
Units arrived on the scene and reported smoke showing from a vacant three-story warehouse; firefighters have responded to the same address several times in the past month.
Firefighters enter the building and located a fire on the first floor, they where able to quickly extinguish the fire with no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation
A few hours later a second alarm was transmitted for a rowhouse on fire on W Street SE, One person was killed and a second person is in serious condition, three firefighters were also injured battling the two-alarm fire
Around 11 p.m, firefighters in the First and Sixth Battalion were dispatched for a report of an apartment building on fire in the 900 block of N Street NW in the Shaw section of the city;
First arriving units reported a working fire on the fourth floor of the apartment building, firefighters enter the building and with a very aggressive attack were able to bring the fire under control with in 10 minutes, one firefighter suffered a minor injury, he was transported to a local hospital along with an infant who suffered minor smoke inhalation.
No other injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation and the cause of this fire is also under investigation
